Biography of Leonardo Da Vinci (April 1452 - May 1519)
In a small town of Vinci in Tuscany, Italy, Piero Da Vinci met a young women called Caterina, who was a peasant girl. They fell in love and got married. In 1452, 15th of April, Caterina had a baby boy and they called him Leonardo Da Vinci. When Leonardo got older he went to Florence with his mother to see the art studios. There he met three young artists named Botricilla, Lorenzo Di Cedi and Perugino.
Leonardo finally left Florence to go to Milan. He worked for the Duke of Milan for seventeen years and he became a court artist. In 1499 the French invaded Milan and people had to evacuate so Leonardo did too. When Leonardo was going back to Florence he stopped at Mantua and Venice.
Back at Florence he had a break from painting for a few years to concentrate on his scientific research. He even suggested that the sun stood still and did not move around the sun.
Leonardo could not stop art for good so he did his first best and most important painting, the Mona Lisa. She was a wife of a very wealthy Florence Merchant. When Leonardo got much he began to settle down in his work and stay in one place. He also painted his second most important picture,The Last Supper. Leonardo got on with his life alone and painted another painting called Madonna on the Rocks, and sketched a self portrait. He never got married, never fell in love. At the age of seventy two, May 1519 sadly he passed away. He was a great man.
