In September 1999, Miss Gibson's Class - Year 3 - went to the Grosvenor Museum.
The children have been studying the Romans as their history topic.
Here are some of our photos and writing.

The Roman soldier said that this is a Roman wall.
The celts came to fight the Roman soldiers.
The Roman soldiers were
at the top of the
fort wall and could
throw a knife or
spear down and
it will kill the celts.
The Roman
soldiers were high
on the fort wall
and they could
see who was coming
from far away.
They could
shout to the other
Roman soldiers
to come and fight.
On the bottom of the
sandals were studs
so they could not
slip.

We are looking at pipes that are from the Roman
times. The round pipes were used for water .The square
pipes were used for central heating. Some of the pipes were
off a roof. The pipes were made out of clay. One of them
had a hole through the middle and you could see right
the way through to the other end. Not all the things on the
table were proper Roman things some of them had
been copied. The roof tile was copied.

)We were in the classroom and I was trying to figure out what
it was fixed to and we pretended that we were professional
detectives. and William was trying to help me but we didn't
figure it out, and it was made out of clay and we got another
piece, and we tried to figure out what that other piece was
fixed to and we didn't figure out what it was fixed to.
To figure out what it was fixed to we tried to fix it together.

I was trying to figure out what they were made out of, and
I was trying to figure out the big white pot and this handle
looked the same as another handle. I was trying to
figure out this face on the white pot, and I put the big part
down and there was a little horse cart on the side, and I put
it on the table and I pulled it around, and I put it down and there
were three pans. I was trying to figure it out when it was made
and I put it down, and their was a big tub of glass and inside
it their was a big rock and little stones stuck on it, and I put my
hand in it and it was made out of rock.

I was wearing the Roman soldiers helmet and it was heavy.
We were in the amphitheatre playing a wolf game it was a
bad game because the wolves used to kill people. The
Roman soldiers uniform protected him from the Celts swords.
When he gets hit with a sword on the head the helmet
protects him.

The Roman soldier told us to be scared because of the wolves and the Roman soldier let the wolves free to come and kill us because we had broken the law. We were in the amphitheatre we were outside it was cold. When the wolves caught us we had to put our hands on our heads. When we got caught we had to stand near
the door which was the adults. Then we had another game because their was some children left, so the wolves came after us again. When all the children got
caught we went to the museum to have dinner.
