Wallerscote Community School 1952 - 2002

Wallerscote's 50th Anniversary

On Friday 11th January Wallerscote School celebrated its 50th anniversary and had some visitors in. There were special guests such as the Director of Education (Mr Cracknell), the Chairman of the County Council, the Bishop of Birkenhead (David) and Nora Stockford (a councillor). Also there were some old pupils of the school such as Liz Burdet and Mr Redford (Mr Redford was at Wallerscote the day it first opened in the year of 1952).
The headmaster of Weaverham High school also attended this special occasion too (Mr Charlton). The visitors were taken on a tour around our school by our monitors who showed them all the classrooms on the bottom floor, the top floor and the mobile out in the school grounds.
In the school hall were some displays of how Weaverham looked in the 1952. Outside the school hall were some notice boards with certificates and old photographs and in the hallway were pieces of work done by the pupils in the past. The pupils all got to take home a mug celebrating the jubilee of Wallerscote. Last term the pupils also got a tea towel with all the children's faces on. There was a towel with the infants faces on and a towel with the juniors faces on, underneath the faces were their names.

We have collected some old pictures and certificates from the past. You might like to see some "Old Sports Teams." Or perhaps you'd like to see some pictures of "Old Classes."

"Mrs Brown," one of our mums kindly allowed us to show some of her pictures. Her children now attend our school.

An ex pupil who became a teacher at Wallerscote, Mr Watkin, wrote a letter to Mr Roberts.
