Wallerscote Y6 Boy on the BBC!
Mr Spendel arranged for Sam (one of our Y6 boys) to be on the BBC radio programme with Simon Mayo. He had to read and review a book. The book had over 500 pages and Sam only had a couple of days to read it - he did!
Here are Sam's thoughts.

Wallerscote Y6 Girls win National Writing Competition!
Two Year 6 girls won a National Writing Competition this term - here is the letter confirming the award from the 'National Literacy Trust'.
Dear Tony,
I am delighted to tell you that your entry to the Harry Potter competition written by your Year 6 girls, has been selected as a winner. Their entry was exciting and imaginative, well-written and funny. We loved the idea of sharing Harry Potter with pets!
Your class prize should arrive shortly - I hope you all enjoy them.
Thanks very much for taking part.
It was a national competition and there were quite a few entries from across the country - the girls did really well on behalf of their class!
Weaverham High School Music Festival
The choir - led by Mrs Worthington and Miss Yarwood - took part in the recent Music Festival at Weaverham High School. Some of Year 4 have written reports - you can read them here.
News: End of Spring Term
School finished the Spring Term with various Easter Activities.
SPORTS REPORT
Football - the first team reached the second round of the Community Cup organised by Crewe Alex. They narrowly missed going through to the semi-finals - well played to all! You can see the team photographs on the display board outside the canteen.
Hockey - thirteen year 5 children recently took part in a hockey skills day and mini tournament. Despite the cold weather and the fact that other schools were represented by year 6, the children really enjoyed their day - well done! Mrs. Worthington presented certificates to these children.
Athletics - a total of 16 children from years 3 and 4 represented the school at the recent Sportshall Athletics Festival at the High School. The children really threw themselves into this one and were a credit to the school, finishing a respectable 5th. Mr. Roberts presented certificates to these children.
This completes a very busy term of sport - well done to all those who took part in the various activities, tournaments, clubs and festivals.
Last day before half term break was a special day. It was a 'UNICEF - Day for Change' event. Over 3,000 schools took part to raise funds for education projects in Kenya. We raised nearly £170! The whole school took part - different classes did different things. Mr Spendel's class (Y6) had a Pirate Day - the children looked brilliant. Year 5 (Mr Hughes) dressed up as characters from the 50s 60s and 70s. Y4 had a pyjama party and all the other classes did something.
News: End of Autumn Term
School finished the Autumn Term with Infant and Junior parties. Before that there was an Infant Nativity which was very enjoyable. The Christmas raffle and bingo has made a lot of money for school but we're also proud of the charity collections we make at various times of the year. Earlier this term we collected nearly £100 for a Cancer Charity by having a non-uniform day and we've had further collection since - proceeds to various charities. The children and parents always support these events.
Sports News: Girls win Football Tournament - Report by Beth Worrall
On Monday 16th October, Wallerscote Girls went on a tournament at Weaverham High School. We played 5 games - drew 1 and won 4. The girls played well and enjoyed the tournament. Girls who scored were Danielle 1; Shannon D 1; and Beth 3. Well done to you all. Shannon L the keeper was terrific and Kamara who had taken place for Shannon. They never let a goal passed them.
WELL DONE!
But not forgetting Eleanor P; Ceri B; and Chloe J who played very well. Wallerscote Girls were getting excited towards the end of the tournament. It finally came to the results and Wallerscote came 1st. We were so happy when Mr Finny said we came 1st. All the other teams played great and well done to all the teachers (especially Mr Hughes). Mr Hughes is a great teacher.
!THANKS A LOT MR HUGHES!
FROM ALL THE TEAM.
